As a leader, I’ve learned that transparent communication isn’t just a “nice-to-have” — it’s essential. When I started in this industry, I was taught that professionalism meant keeping a certain distance, showing confidence and staying polished.

Ambition drives a leader to pursue goals, push boundaries, and achieve results, while compassion fosters understanding, trust, and a strong sense of team unity. The challenge? Finding harmony between the two.

Leadership is often associated with decision-making, vision casting and taking charge. While these are certainly key elements of being an effective leader, there’s another skill that’s just as critical but often overlooked—listening.
